Internship
PrepareRI Internship Program (Deadline: April 15, 2018)
The Prepare RI Internship Program will train and place at least 100 Rhode Island youth in paid summer internships with the state's top employers in a range of industries. Summer 2018 is the pilot year for PrepareRI Internships. The program is a joint project of the Rhode Island Department of Education and Governor's Workforce Board, and will be managed by a statewide career readiness intermediary (https://gwb.ri.gov.gwb-releases-grant-solicitation-for-statewide-career-readiness-intermediary) to be selected in early March 2018.
Key Facts
-PrepareRI Internships are summer internships for Rhode Island public high school students
-There will be 100 internship openings for summer 2018
-Interns will be paid
-Internships will last 6-8 weeks (20-35 hours per week)
-Interns will be placed at top Rhode Island employers
-To be eligible, students must be 16+ and entering 12th grade in a RI public school in fall 2018
-A statewide career readiness intermediary (/grants#business-grants) will help select students and match them with employers

 Act Student Champion Award
Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award! The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place.   ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition. 
Applications can be found at www.act.org/readinesschampions. Applications are due December 31, 2017, and champions will be notified on or before April 2, 2018. If applicants are under the age of 18, they must complete this form in addition to the application.  All questions may be directed to ccrc@act.org. 

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program honors the legacy and character of our nation's 40th President by rewarding college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Through the generous support of GE, this national program annually awards $10,000 renewable scholarships to numerous students.

A) Be a United States high school student in grades nine through twelve

Ron Brown Scholarships Program - $40,000 - 10 Awards (Deadline: January 9, 2018)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be US citizens or permanent residents, Black/African American and current high school seniors at the time of their application.
B) Demonstrate academic achievement, exhibit leadership ability, participate in community service activities and have a demonstrated financial need.

Michael P. Metcalf and Christine T Grinavic Adventurer's Fund
The Rhode Island Foundation is now accepting applications for the Michael P. Metcalf Memorial Fund and Christine T. Grinavic Adventurer’s Fund. which provides grants to college students who are pursuing an experience to broaden their perspective and enhance personal growth to subsidize these experiences. This may include travel in this country and abroad and a variety of internship and public service programs. Applications will be accepted from students who have been legal residents of Rhode Island. Plans must include a well-defined program and demonstrate clear purpose.

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund - multiple deadlines - see website
This Fund offers renewable, 4-year scholarships to students from New England with financial need. Successful candidates are those who display academic achievement, service to others, good character, leadership qualities, and a willingness to work to contribute to college, personal and/or family expenses.

Carter Roger Williams Scholarship - Deadline: February 12, 2018
The Carter Roger Williams Scholarship provides four year scholarships of up to $20,000 per student per year for graduating high school seniors in Rhode Island.  The scholarship is part of our Carter Roger Williams Initiative conceived of and funded by philanthropists Letitia and John Carter and managed by the Rhode Island Foundation.  The Carter Roger Williams Initiative provides annual scholarships to Rhode Island high school seniors who display an appreciation for, and a desire to embody, the values of our state’s founder. The Initiative also provides comprehensive resources and information about Roger Williams and his teachings via www.findingRogerWilliams.com
Applicants must currently be residents of Rhode Island and seniors at any high school in Rhode Island, and they must have been accepted by an accredited post-secondary institution by the date of award.  Application should be made via our online, electronic grants system. Roger Williams University/Alan Shawn Feinstein Leadership Scholarship - Deadline: February 15
The Alan Shawn Feinstein Leadership Scholarships are a joint program of The Feinstein Foundation and Roger Williams University in order to recognize students who have been actively involved in a Feinstein Good Deeds/Junior Scholar or Youth Hunger Brigade Program, as well as achieving academic success. Scholarships are awarded in varying amounts based on merit, as well as need, by the scholarship committee. 
This distinctive scholarship opportunity is only made available to Feinstein Junior Scholars who have applied and been admitted to Roger Williams University. These four-year scholarships are awarded in recognition of your involvement and doing "good Deeds". Through a matching fund program, RWU guarantees that your overall award from the university will match or exceed the funds from the Feinstein Foundation for the selected recipients.
To be considered for this award, current seniors in high school must:

New England Newspaper & Press Association - $1, 000 - multiple awards - (Deadline: March 9, 2018)
The Journalism Education Foundation of New England will award a number of $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and college students in our six-state region who plan to pursue a career in journalism. 
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A. Be a resident of New England.
B. Be a senior in high school planning to attend college the following year or an undergraduate college student studying journalism or a related field.
C. Have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
D. The Paul F. Ronci Memorial Scholarship Trust - (Deadline: March 31, 2018)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A. Be in the top 10% of the class rank.
B. Have been a resident of Rhode Island for ten (10) years of the last twelve (12) years. Proof of residency is required.

Military Spouses of Newport Freshman Scholarship - varied amount (Deadline: April 13, 2018)
This scholarship seeks to reward students who are military dependent children, currently seeing degree or certificate at an accredited college, university or technical school.  If you meet all of the eligibility criteria, the MSoN encourages your submission.

Touro Synagogue Foundation - minimum of 2 Awards - (Deadline: April 20, 2018)
The Aaron and Rita Slom Scholarship Fund for Freedom and Diversity will provide a minimum of two college scholraships for high school seniors.  Students will submit an interpretive work focusing on the George Washington Letter to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, RI in context with the present time.

Olivia Noel Rotondo Memorial Scholarship - $2500 (Deadline: April 25, 2018)
The LivForYou foundation, is pleased to announce, it will be awarding $2500 to a Rhode Island Cheerleader to attend any college/university as a full time student.
Applicant must be:
A. A graduating high school senior
B. A varsity cheerleader
C. Provide proof of Rhode Island residency
D. Accepted and enrolled as a fulltime student in a college/university undergraduate program (must include proof of acceptance)

Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association Fisheries and Marine Sciences Award  4 - $500 Awards (Deadline: May 5, 2018)
The Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association Fisheries and Marine Sciences Award shall be awarded to any Rhode Island resident high school senior, who will attend the University of Rhode Island or Roger Williams University, in either a Marine Biology, Marine Affairs or in Fisheries and Agriculture programs, within one year.

Chiefs of Police Secretaries Association - 1 Award $500 (Deadline: May 14, 2018)
The Rhode Island Chiefs of Police Secretaries Association (COPSA) will be offering a scholarship in the amount of $500 this year to be awarded in June, 2018. This one-time award will be given to a high school senior, or anyone possessing a GED, from any Rhode Island high school who has been accepted into a BUSINESS program and has a good scholastic average.

Community Concert Series @ St. Michael's - 1 Award $1,000 - (Deadline: May 15, 2018)
The Community Concert Series @ St. Michael's will provide a $1000 college scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is planning to pursue a degree in a music-related field. The applicant must be a resident of Bristol, Warren, Barrington or Portsmouth, Rhode Island, who has been accepted to an accredited two year or four year college as a full time student.

Sons of Italy "Columbian Award" & "Cianci Scholarship" - multiple awards (Deadline: June 15, 2018)
The Order Sons of Italy in America and Loggia Piave 364 Sons of Italy is pleased to announce that the annual Columbian Award and Vincent A. Buddy Cianci Scholarship Awards will be presented at the Columbus Day Dinner in October, 2018,  and St. Joseph's Day Dinner in March 2019.
The Columbian Awards are presented to a high school senior male and female for achieving excellence in both academics and athletics. The Award is $500 each.
The Vincent A. Buddy Cianci Scholarships are presented to a high school senior male and female for achieving excellence in both academics and athletics.  The Award is $1,000 each.
All applications must meet these standards:
A. The student must be a senior.
B. The student must have an Italian surname; if not, maternal or paternal grandparents must be of Italian descent, and so noted on application.
C. The student must be an outstanding scholar athlete.

​Gabriel and Christine Chiu Review It Scholarship - $1,000 - 1 Award (Deadline: June 30, 2018)
Dr. Gabriel and Christine Chiu are active philanthropists who avidly support a variety of organizations such as: Children Mending Hearts, Cedars Sinai, the American Red Cross, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and many more.
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A. Be attending college or university no later than September of 2018.
B. Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater and plan on attending a school in the United States.
