Upcoming Events:

  • April 26-May 30th-Book Drive to Support Books are Wings or Books Through Bars

  • May 17th-Statewide Professional Development Day-Distance Learning for Students

    • Students participate in independent learning tasks assigned in Canvas, at home.

From the Desk of Nurse Collins:

  • Several common seasonal allergy symptoms are also symptoms of COVID-19, such as cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, congestion, runny nose

  • Please keep your child home from school if they are symptomatic, even if they have a history of seasonal allergies

  • Report symptoms to the school nurse and get tested for COVID-19

Nayatt Virtual 5K/Hustle for Heroes Update:

  • Special thanks to our Nayatt PTO 5K Committee, they took the cards, posters, and other items to Hasbro Children’s Hospital to honor our first responders.

  • We even made the Channel 12 News-2nd clip, take off mute….enjoy!

  • Positive Relationships

  • So far, we have raised over $11,000 to enhance and enrich our children’s school experience.

  • Approve Revised School Calendar: The revised schedule which is based mostly on the state calendar with some days specific to Barrington was approved. 2021-2022 Revised School Calendar

  • Policy Committee Update: School Committee input regarding updates to the Decision-Making Policy: Due to the late hour, the School Committee voted to defer the discussion of the Decision-Making Policy to the next meeting. 

  • First Read: Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity Policy

  • BPS has developed a partnership with the Pokanoket Nation. 

  • Through the collaboration of Sachem Dancing Star of the Pokanoket Tribe, Julie Myszak, our Instructional Coach, Theresa Moore, our Cultural Relevance Coach, Alison Greico of BHS, Katie O’Kane, the Library Media Specialist at PHS, and the BPS third grade teachers, the students in grade 3 are learning about the local indigenous people of Barrington.

  • On May 17th, the Grade 3 students will watch a pre-recorded informational session with Sachem Dancing Star that addresses any additional unanswered questions from the video watched whole class the week of 5/10 and add/complete their notecatcher. 

  • Parents may enjoy participating in this activity with their child.

BPS Volunteer Guidelines:

  • Have a current BCI on file with the Volunteer Office

  • Be fully vaccinated and two weeks post vaccination.

  • Wear a mask at all times on school grounds

  • Check in and out of the school office

Chromebook Care Reminder:

  • Be sure to charge your child’s chromebook each night before sending it to school.

  • Some chromebooks are coming back broken, please provide a cover or case.
