Good afternoon,
I hope everyone had a nice week last week.
This week, we celebrate all of our volunteers. We have parents, grandparents, and retired Sowams teachers who come into our school each week to assist students in our classrooms, the library, and for Speedway. We have volunteers who do so much for our school by being on the PTO Executive Board or running a PTO committee for our family events or room parents who organize classroom activities. And, we have parents who volunteer to do various tasks at home for our classrooms. On behalf of the entire Sowams Faculty and Staff, THANK YOU for all that you do that benefits our students, our school, and us. Sowams is truly a community that wants the best for all of our students and all of us together are able to provide that.

Bus Transportation: Students are only allowed to get off the bus at their scheduled stop location. They can no longer get dropped off at a different stop.
Sowams Speedway: We are in need of more volunteers to assist with Sowams Speedway, our walking/running club during recess. We are looking for volunteers starting next week and for the remainder of this school year. If you are interested and on the approved volunteer list, you may access the sign up here.
Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week: The week of May 5, 2025, we will be celebrating Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week. The PTO has various ways scheduled to celebrate our wonderful faculty and staff. Your help is needed with this. Please see this information on what will be happening that week and how you are able to celebrate our caring faculty and staff.

Friday, May 9th from 6-8pm. Dress up or dress down and come ready for a night of fun, laughter and tropical vibes. See flyer for detail. Please plan to bring ONE special person due to capacity limits. If we don't sell out, we'll let you know, and you can add an extra guest! Volunteers Needed: Volunteers are needed to assist with this event. It takes many individuals to put together events like this which truly benefit our students and families. If you are able to help out with set up or clean up or doing some tasks before the event, please click this link to sign up.

Third Grade Parents/Guardians: The 3rd Grade Reception Committee is designing a slideshow of our Sowams graduation class to showcase at the reception on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, and we welcome your special graduate(s) photos for the sole purpose of including your student(s) in the slideshow. Please submit your photos to this form: baby pictures (one of your child up to 2 years old), a current photo of your child, and any photos you have from school activities.
From Barrington Middle School: Red, White, and BlueWater! - 8th Grade Washington, DC Fundraiser: Please join us for a special evening to support the Grade 8 class on their journey to Washington, D.C.!
